That's a Golf R right? Why does the speedo go to 200, a full 70 MPH more than the car is limited to?

Are you new to German cars or something? They always optimistic speedos.

Well I like a nice round number as much as the next guy, but 200 in a hot hatch? The car's fast but that's not even something it could do with some extensive mods. For comparison, the speedometer in an SL65 AMG only goes to 220. Without it's limiter that's easily a 200 mph car.

I don't know why, and I really never thought about after looking at the gauges for two years. It's irrelevant to me.

Why does my friend's Honda Civic have a 150mph speedometer and a 115hp engine?

Honda Civics are racecars, everyone knows that, I just hope he doesn't blow himself to pieces when the NAWS kicks in.

I just started listening to it on my drive to work today. So far I can recommend it. And I can bet it will only be better on my drive home in the dark of night.

An APR Stage 3+ Golf R will likely be able to hit at least 170 (520+ horsepower at the crank), so I think that is far more justifiable than the Civic's optimistic speedo.
